Nature is important. The establishment of habitat areas for plants and wildlife to live has been a predominant part of the design and development of Dos Lagos. A 135-acre open space hillside area has been dedicated to a project to re-establish upland Coastal Riversidean Sage Scrub and provide a habitat for the threatened California gnat catcher and other local species. The hillside area acts as a link between the 13,000 Lake Mathews-Estelle Wildlife Reserve, Prado Dam and the Santa Ana River to the north, and Lake Elsinore to the south.
Under the perpetual stewardship of the Riverside-Corona Resource Conservation District (RCRCD), this important open space area is being restored and enhanced to provide living area for indigenous plant and wildlife. Bio swales and natural wetland areas have also been set up along the golf greenbelt and Temescal Creek area, which enhances the open space that can be used by area wildlife. Dos Lagos is the only development endorsed by the Riverside Land Conservancy. |
