The one-mile stretch of Temescal Canyon Road that runs through Dos Lagos was once an important stop along the old Butterfield Stage Coach route traveling 2,795 miles from Tipton Missouri to San Francisco.

Today, it is a modern, four-lane thoroughfare, an important artery for traffic moving through the Temescal Valley.

The roadway along this stretch was realigned to preserve several majestic oaks that date back to the stage coach times. The oaks, which have stood tall for a century or more, have expansive canopies that shade and add beauty to the roadway.

Landscaped medians and parkways, lush with native flora, provide a scenic transport designed by landscape architect Ken Kammeyer of Kammeyer & Associates. The landscape palette offers an inspired mix of texture, color and scents and includes a sprinkling of exotics designed to celebrate the changing seasons.
