Get Out And Play

Not every SCGA tournament is a white-knuckled, teeth-gritting competitive situation. Not when it's one of the organization's Casual Golf Days.

This qualifies as casual: Golf, tee prizes and a chance to interact with SCGA officials. What's missing? Scoreboards.

A few casual events still have space, including June 26 at The SCGA Golf Course in Murrieta and Aug. 8 at Oak Quarry Golf Club in Riverside.

Cost: $55. Info:

scga.org/casualgolfdays.htm or casualgolf@scga.org.

International Flavor

Golfers 14 and older can register for the The International Amateur Golf Championship at The PGA of Southern California Golf Club June 8-10.

To play in the championship flight, players must have a USGA Index of 4.4 or less.

Sign up by June 1. Cost is $375. Info: 877-742-2500.

More Golf Notes

Dos Lagos Golf Club is preparing to open in early July. But the still-growing staff at the par-70, 6,530-yard Corona course already is accepting queries about tournaments and outings from November through next year. Info: terry@doslagosgolf.com.

Indian Wells Country Club's Brian Garlington and Garret Kriske shot 61 to claim the Southern California PGA Club Car Pro-President Championship at Toscana Country Club on Monday.

The Southern California Section of the PGA will hold junior golf camps this summer for players ages 6-17. A pair of week-long camps will be held at the PGA of Southern California Golf Club and at Empire Lakes Golf Course in Rancho Cucamonga. Info: scpga.com or 951-845-4653.
