CORONA - When The Promenade Shops at Dos Lagos opens this Friday, visitors will still be looking for a place to go to the movies. They won't be looking long.
Krikorian Premiere Theatres' 15-screen, 70,000 square-foot venue won't be ready for the grand opening, but moviegoers attending Riverside County's first "lifestyle center" will get to see all the big Christmas films there.
Krikorian Theatres 15 at Dos Lagos plans to open Dec. 15, with stadium seating, high-back chairs and all the latest in modern theater conveniences.
"We selected Krikorian because they operate only the highest quality theaters," Terry McEwen, president of developer Poag & McEwen, said in a release. "The fact that they are headquartered in California means they will be a hands-on operator. They will deliver the best possible experience to our customers."
Krikorian, which began as one six-screen theater in 1983, now has more than 20 high-end multiplexes in Southern California. The company has screens in seven different cities, with Corona the eighth and a ninth due in 2007 when its Pico-Rivera complex opens.
"Krikorian Premiere Theatres will provide our shoppers with another unique entertainment venue that
will enhance the entire experience of shopping, dining and playing at The Promenade Shops at Dos Lagos," said Amy Brown, general manager of The Promenade Shops at Dos Lagos."
The shops make up the retail component of what is a 360,000 square-foot Phase I of the Dos Lagos project. When the full project is completed, Dos Lagos will be a 543-acre master-planned, mixed-use community along the 15 Freeway just south of the 91 Freeway.
Phase I includes more than 40 shops, including American Eagle Outfitters, Anthropologie, Eddie Bauer, Gymboree, TGIFridays and Z Gallerie, among others.
